Moisture Laden

Promises of sunshine
and rainbows
have not been kept

Gray clouds sit heavily
enshrouding the mountains
Still no blue sky in sight

The silence is cut
only by occasional
twitters of songbirds
fluttering their feathers dry

Grasses are tall and cumbrous
moisture laden
leaning heavily towards earth

lilacs dripping scented dew
as the dogs rush through

the gray
should soon
be pushed away
but I have grown accustomed
to its existance

I have a fondness for the gray
it has become an intimate friend
surrounding and covering
a sad sad day
